Welcome to the Badger Association

As of January 1, 2010, the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children are operating as one organization.  The two non-profit agencies have merged to become one full-service vision resource agency with a goal to foster independence and successful integration of people of all ages who are visually impaired.  Together, these two exceptional organizations can accomplish a bigger mission than either could alone: providing a continuum of services, from birth through adulthood, to people who are blind and visually impaired, helping them to live with vision loss and achieve their personal and professional goals.

We help people of all ages and at all stages of visual impairment achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency. We offer vision rehabilitation services for childrenworking age adults, and older adults, recreational and volunteer opportunities, and independent living options at Hawley Ridge Apartments.  We also have a retail store, the Outlook Shoppe, that features adaptive vision products.

Partnering with families, the Children’s Vision Rehabilitation program provides education and therapy services to children with vision impairments so they may reach their fullest potential. This program offers a coordinated program of educational intervention and prescribed therapies to infants and toddlers who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities.

For people seeking skills as they enter college, join the workforce, or who are looking to maintain full independence, the Badger Association offers Adult Vision Rehabilitation Services designed to meet each individual’s needs. Changing vision does not have to mean a diminished quality of life.

Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, and Diabetic Retinopathy are a few common causes of age related vision loss. If you or a family member need help adjusting to living with changing vision, reading the newspaper, signing checks or finding the right magnifier, the Badger Association’s Low Vision Services is here to help.

The Badger Association is located at 912 N. Hawley Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53213. Our children’s program is currently located at 5600 W. Brown Deer Road, Suite 4, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53223.
