Kerry Obrist

Artist - Chicago, IL

Kerry Obrist, a 39-year old woman from Chicago, was diagnosed at the age of 23 with cone-rod dystrophy, a degenerative hereditary disease that became disabling by age 30.

Kerry only began considering herself “artistic” about four years ago after colleagues encouraged her to submit her 35mm photography to the Guild’s juried art show, Passionate Focus. Encouraged by her success at this show, she now has applied and has been accepted into other juried shows as far away as New York City.

Reluctant to dive into the digital age, most of Kerry’s work has been done with her favorite 25-year old 35mm Pentax. Currently she is experimenting with digital photography and learning how to adapt the equipment to accommodate her visual needs.
