Sylvester S. Sims

Artist – Milwaukee, WI

Sylvester had been challenged his entire life with having crossed-eyes. He became interested in boxing to help lift his self-esteem and in one particular twist of fate he endured a severe blow to his nose, it was discovered that his eyes had been straightened.

He is a self-taught artist since his youth. In recent years he’s had cataracts in both eyes as well as floaters. Both eyes have had lens implants, and in spite of some visual distortion he has continued his love for painting.

His art can be found on display at UW-Milwaukee, Inner City Arts Council, War Memorial, New York, California, and Alabama to mention a few.
