There are 60,000 people living with vision loss in Southeastern Wisconsin and we need your help to let these people know that there is help and training available for them to remain independent and enjoy a high quality of life.
Living with Vision Loss Support Group will meet for six Mondays beginning September 11th. The group will meet at the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. This free support group will address the emotional impact vision loss can have on some individuals and their families, along with resources that are available. Contact 414-615-0121 to register or for more information.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss for people over the age of 55. In fact, AMD causes eye problems in nearly one-third of Americans age 75 and older. There is help available for these people.
Monthly Support Groups are also offered at the Badger Association. The group setting allows adults to see firsthand that they are not going through this experience alone. Spouses, children and grandchildren are a major part of our support groups. The members of the group share information, develop coping strategies and keep in contact by phone throughout the month. Guest speakers often provide information and training in areas that are requested by the group.
