Volunteers in Visual Assistance (VIVA)

Become a Badger Association volunteer! Helping others feels good and helps you feel good about yourself. The Badger Association can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, opportunities to help you use your talents, or provide training to help you serve people who are blind or visually impaired.

Each year hundreds of people serve as Badger Association VIVA volunteers helping people in our community remain independent. Badger Association volunteers work directly with people, serve on boards and committees, advise and provide behind the scenes support for the organization.

Badger Association volunteers are an integral part of providing services to people who are blind or visually impaired. They take a personal interest that resonates in a spirit of kindness. Their energy and inspiration are the reason we are able to serve so many people who need our services. Without them it would be nearly impossible to maintain the number and scope of classes, programs and services that we offer.

Common Opportunities that exist for volunteers are:

• Driver — provide transportation for Badger Association appointments or recreational events. When volunteers use their own vehicles they receive mileage reimbursement upon request.
• Preparing mailings
• Guiding and serving at special events
• Acting as instructional aids for recreational classes
• Assisting with office work
• And much more
