Volunteer Program
Become a Badger Association volunteer! The Badger Association can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, opportunities to use your talents, or provide training to help people who are blind or visually impaired.
Each year, hundreds of people serve as Badger Association volunteers, helping people in our community remain independent. Badger Association volunteers work directly with people, serve on boards and committees, advise and provide behind-the-scenes support for the organization.
Badger Association volunteers are an integral part of providing services to people who are blind or visually impaired. They take a personal interest in the organization that resonates in a spirit of kindness. Their energy and inspiration are the reason we are able to serve so many people who need our services. Without them it would be nearly impossible to maintain the number and scope of classes, programs and services that we offer.
Common Opportunities that exist for volunteers are:
- Event Coordinator/Leader: Assists the Life Skills Team with planning recreational events, including preparing for the event, attending the event, and assisting with post-event documentation and reporting as needed.
- Guides/Assistants: Use communication skills and sight to provide guidance for visually impaired individuals for many events. Sighted guide training provided to volunteers.
- Drivers: Provide transportation for training and rehabilitation classes, meetings and recreation events. Drivers must have a valid driver license.
- Point Person: Responsible and reliable individual, (who lives close by) who can open doors before and after events and hand out event information to volunteers and participants.
- Accessible Materials Assistant: From home or from the Badger Association, computer savvy individuals who will type up menus and other documents for Life Skills classes and events.
